James Yang speaking at a lectern during an event in Singapore

The questions below come up before most bookings in Singapore: how far ahead to book an emcee, whether the night can be hosted in both English and Mandarin, what it costs, who writes the run sheet, and whether travel outside Singapore is possible.

What to send in the first message

Send these four things and you will normally get an answer the same day, including whether the date is free and what it costs for your actual event.

The date and time

Roughly when it starts and when you expect it to end.

The event and the venue

What kind of event it is, and where it is being held.

Guests and language

How many people, and which language should lead.

Anything unusual

A surprise, a VIP, a tight run sheet, anything that must not be said.

Questions

How far in advance should I book an emcee in Singapore?
For corporate Dinner and Dance events and annual galas, which peak between October and February, companies typically lock in their date 3 to 6 months in advance. Conferences and product launches are usually booked 2 to 4 months ahead. For weddings, most couples secure their date 6 to 12 months out, especially for auspicious weekend dates in Q4. That said, if your event is weeks or even days away, reach out via WhatsApp anyway. If my calendar is open, I can step in quickly.
Do you host in both English and Mandarin?
Yes. I am effectively bilingual in English and Mandarin, and I also weave in local dialects such as Hokkien and Cantonese when the room calls for it. Rather than reading every line twice in stiff translation, I read the crowd and switch languages naturally mid-flow so both English-speaking and Mandarin-speaking guests laugh and stay engaged at the same time.
What does an emcee cost in Singapore?
Emcee rates in Singapore depend on the event format (corporate conference, gala dinner, D&D, wedding banquet, or livestream), the date and duration, the level of script and game customisation required, and whether you need audio or DJ support. Send me your date, venue, event type, and guest count via WhatsApp (+65 9733 4405), and I will reply personally with availability and a transparent quote the same day.
Do you write the script and the run sheet?
Yes. Before every event, we meet over Zoom or in person to plan the flow. If your team or planner already has a run sheet, I refine the pacing, verify all VIP titles and name pronunciations, and tailor the hosting script in English and Mandarin. If you are starting from scratch, I will help you build the timeline, recommend segment placements and crowd games, and draft the cues so nothing is left to guesswork.
Do you travel for events outside Singapore?
Yes. In addition to hosting across Singapore, I travel regularly for regional corporate summits, destination gala dinners, incentive trips, and overseas weddings. To date, I have hosted live events across 13 countries in Asia-Pacific, Europe, and North America: Australia, Canada, China, Greece, Hong Kong, Italy, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, and the United States.
Can you host virtual or hybrid events?
Yes. I have extensive experience anchoring green-screen studio broadcasts, regional APAC townhalls, virtual product launches, and hybrid award ceremonies. Hosting a hybrid room requires a specific cadence: engaging the live ballroom audience while keeping remote viewers across multiple time zones actively involved without dead air.
What happens if you fall ill on the day?
In 20 years and over 2,000 events, I treat every booking as a non-negotiable commitment and take strict vocal and health precautions before every show. In the rare event of a genuine medical emergency, I maintain a trusted network of top-tier full-time bilingual emcees in Singapore and will personally brief and hand over your completed run sheet and script to an experienced replacement so your event is never left stranded.

Tell me the date and what the night is.

I reply personally, usually the same day.
